 HELD FOR ILLEGALLY PROCURING & SELLING REMDESIVIR INJECTION (COVIFOR) IN BLACK MARKET ON HIGHER PRICE

Seized (32) Remdesivir Injections(COVIFOR) & 07 cell phones

 On credible information the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, North  Zone Team conducted simultaneous raids in the limits of  Panjagutta, Banjara Hills, SR Nagar  PSs and apprehended  (07)  accused persons who are  illegally procuring and selling Remdesivir injections (Covifor) Hetero Company in black market to needy customers for Rs.25,000/- and Rs. 35,000/-  each vial without any valid documents to make quick money, which are being used for Antiviral medicine for Covid-19 patients. The antiviral drug is currently in high demand for the treatment of Covid 19.

 Details of accused  persons & Seized Covid medicine :-

 Case-I : SR Nagar PS: 

1. Sunku Damodar S/o.  S.Parthasaradhi, age.  30 yrs, Occ.    Covid  essential material  supply agent R/o. Yellareddy guda, SR Nagar  N/o. Ananthaur Dist, AP State, (Illegally procuring & Selling agent)

2. Putta Ramalingesh S/o. P.Gangaiah, age. 33 yrs, Occ. Marketing agent  R/o. Ameerpet, N/o.  Vishakapatnam ( Dist), AP State  (Associate) 

• Seized (17) Remdesivir Injections (COVIFOR),  100 mg each vial Hetero company

 Case-II : Banjara Hills PS 

3. Busam Girish Kumar S/o. B.Gunakar Rao, age. 29 yrs, Occ. Endoscopy Technician in Apollo Hospital, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad  R/o. Rayadurgam N/o. Mallavolu (village), Krishna Dist, AP State ( Technician & Illegally procuring & selling Remdesivir Injections  in black market

• Seized (06) Remdesivir Injections (Covifor) of Hetero Company  each vial 100 MG

 Case-III : Panjagutta PS 

4. Grandhi Gouri Shankar  S/o. G.Subramanyam, age.  60 yrs, Occ. Medical shop       (Sree Shiva Medical) Beside NIMS Hospital,  R/o. Kukatpally, N/o Tenali, AP State  (Illegally procuring & selling Remdesivir Injections  in black market)

5. Grandhi Harish Kumar S/o. Grandhi Gouri Shankar , age. 36 yrs, Occ. Medical shop , Opp. NIMS Hospital, R/o. R/o. Kukatpally, N/o Tenali, AP State  ( Son of Grandhi Gouri Shankar  ) 

6. Potnuru Mukunda Rao S/o. P.Satyam Naidu, age. 32 yrs, occ. Medical shop      (Sri Sai Manikanta Medical & General store)  Mothi Nagar R/o. Yousufguda, Hyderabad, (Associate ) 

• Seized (06) Remdesivir Injections(COVIFOR),100 mg each vial Hetero company

 Case –VI : Panjagutta PS 

7. Arakanti  Chinna  S/o. A.Chinna Somanna, age. 19 yrs, Occ. Employee  in Healthwave  rehabilitation hospital,   Khairatabad, N/o.   Kurnool Dist, AP State, ( Hospital staff & selling Remdesivir injections in black market)

Dr.Ganga Raju, MBBS Doctor of  Helathwave rehabilitation hospital (Absconding) 

• Seized  (03) Remdesivir Injections(COVIFOR),

 Modus operandi 

  Remdesivir is an antiviral drug that is being used for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Due to its high demand, it is not easily available in the market.  As the Covid-19 pandemic situation the demand  for the Remdesivir “Covifor” has increased.  It is normally does not cost more than Rs. 3,500/- depending on manufacture.  

 Accused persons hatched a plan to earn quick money by illegally procuring the Remdesivir injections in low price thorough known sources or medical staff   and selling the same on high price in black market without any valid documents to customers and gain easy money illegally. 

  The accused persons are doing Medical business, and Medical representatives in hospitals.

  The accused persons  used their credentials to target gullible people who needed remdesivir injections  for their family members Covid treatment  , then the accused persons  sell a vial between Rs. 25,000/- and Rs. 35,000/-             ( Depend on customers ) 

  Today the accused persons  have illegally procured Remdesivir (Covifor) injections of Hetero Company and set a deal with a customers for selling the same  on high price and trying to deliver the same.

 Arrest  :-  

  Acting on a tip of information the Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone team formed teams and  laid a trap near Gree Park Hotel, Dharam Karam Road, SR Nagar PS and apprehended (02) accused persons by name Putta Ramalingesh  &  Sunku Damodar seized (17) Remdesivir Injections   (COVIFOR) & 01 cell phones from their possession.

  Trapped near Apollo Hospital, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad  and apprehended one accused Busam Girish Kumar & seized (06) Remdesivir Injections   (COVIFOR) & 01 cell phones from his possession.

  Trapped near Sree Shiva Medical & General store,  Beside NIMS Hospital , Panjagutta  apprehended (3) accused persons Grandhi Gouri Shankar, G.Harish Kumar  & Potnuru Mukunda Rao  and seized (06) Remdesivir Injections   (COVIFOR) & 02 cell phones from their possession.

   Trapped near  Healthwave  rehabilitation  hospital,   Khairatabad and apprehended one accused Arakanti  Chinna   and seized (3) Injections   (COVIFOR) & 01 cell phone from his possession. In this case Hospital Doctor Ganga Raju is absconding.  

  The apprehended accused person along with seized material were handed over to S.H.O. SR Nagar PS, Banjara Hills PS, Panjagutta PS for taking further action.

  The arrest was made under the supervision of Sri.P.Radhakishan Rao,                    Dy. Commissioner of Police (OSD), Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad lead by K.Nageswar Rao, Inspector of Police, Task Force, North Zone and SIs K.Srikanth, B.Parameshwar along with staff of Task Force North Zone Team, Hyderabad.
